	Steiff Club membership gift 2006 Polar bear, is 10 cm in size and comes in a box with certificate. The Polar bear is made out of white colored mohair according to a design from 1925, has a hand-embroidered nose, a purple taffeta ribbon and a bell. He can be hung up by an elastic cord with a colored pompon and ring. This is the first in a new series of club gifts. EAN 420511

	Cat on a Pincushion, is 17cm in size and made out white mohair. This charming pincushion is based on a treasured piece from the year 1906. Cat lovers will agree that this exquisitely-crafted mohair article really captures the magical and mesmerizing character of the cat. The cat is jointed and sits on a hand-made blue cord-edged velvet pincushion. Around its neck, it wears a blue ribbon printed with the word "Steiff" with a little bell hanging from it. Its mouth is hand-stitched. The cat comes in a nice box with certificate of authenticity. The cat on a pincushion is the last in the series, the others issued are: Little elephant pincushion (2002), Frog pincushion (2003) and Camel on a pincushion (2005). His edition size is 1500 pieces. 	Teddy bear "Bagi" was originally produced in 1908 in the colors light-brown, dark-brown and white. She was dressed in a one-color feminine felt suit with a matching hat. A dressed bear in 1908 was something totally new. Other pieces in that series were her brother Babo, sailors Basa & Basi and four other pieces. Bagi was auctioned at Christies in 2003. The bear auctioned did not have the original skirt anymore and had lost its hat, but this piece was taken as the model for this years club edition. Bagi, is 33 cm in size and made out of beige mohair. She is dressed in a feminine suit of light-blue and cornflower-blue felt with a fine white edging and small metal buttons on the jacket. 	The Birthday bear with individually stitched jacket, only available exclusively to Club members, wears a blue short-sleeved cotton shirt with three white mother-of-pearl buttons. The first name, date of birth and sign of the zodiac of the person for whom the bear is intended can be embroidered on the jacket or just with name and/or date. The birthday bear is supplied in an appropriately beautiful black cotton pouch and is accompanied by a brief summary of the characteristics associated with the respective sign of the zodiac. He is 25 cm in size and made out of light-blond mohair. He comes with a certificate of authenticity. His edition size is 1900 pieces. EAN 420566

	The Teddy bear "Bagi" & Cat on a pincushion club set includes the Cat on a Pincushion (EAN 420535) and Teddy bear "Bagi" (EAN 420559). Both items have the same limited edition number and both items bought as a set are $ 40.00/Euro 29,00 cheaper then bought individually. 	The Event bear 2006, only available at special Steiff trunk shows and club events, is made out of rose mohair and wears a special gray vest which has a special Steiff logo and “Steiff Club Event 2006” imprinted on the front. The event name and date is imprinted on the bottom of the vest. The bear is 18 cm in size and comes in a box with certificate. His edition size is 2100 pieces. EAN 420580

	The Il Veneziano Teddy bear, is the fourth item in a series made exclusively available to Steiff club members. The bear is 33 cm in size, stuffed with wood shavings and only limited to 500 pieces. The bear is a delightful interpretation of a Venetian carnival actor. He is made from a very unusual red and purple high tech, shimmering iridescent fabric, is five ways jointed, and comes with a hand painted mask on a rod. The manufacturer of this unusual fabric is the Swiss company Schoeller Textil AG. The mask, cast from tin with a glossy lacquer, comes with golden decorations applied by hand and an aluminum rod. His costume is completed by flounces and velvet bows. The black glass eyes are set on a base of high quality dark blue felt and his nose is stitched by hand with a top class pearl yarn. He also comes with an elaborate personalized certificate which includes beautiful pictures of Venice waterways. The button is made of brushed stainless steel and bearing the initials MS. 	The Steiff Summer Festival 2006 Teddy bear, is limited to 2006 pieces, 26 cm in size and exclusively sold at the festival. He is made of a curly gold colored mohair, wears a straw hat decorated with sun flowers and a nice gold colored ribbon around his neck. His right paw is embroidered with "Steiff Sommer" and his left with "2006". He does come in a box and has a certificate of authenticity. EAN 656194

	The Mini Steiff Summer Festival 2006 Teddy bear, is limited to 126 pieces only, 18 cm in size and was not available for sale. This bear was presented as a gift by Steiff to each of the exhibitors at the Steiff Summer festival. He is made of a curly gold colored mohair, wears a straw hat decorated with sun flowers and a nice gold colored ribbon around his neck. He does come in a box and has a certificate of authenticity. 	The Steiff Summer Festival workshop Teddy bear, has been produced in an edition of 80 pieces only at the Steiff Summer Festival 2006 in Giengen Germany. The unusual aspect of this bear is that there is no bear in this edition of 80 pieces which looks alike. Each bear was produced by one of the 80 lucky participants of the workshop organized by Steiff during the Summer Festival. The workshop was totally sold out and many Steiff enthusiasts were disappointed that they could not take part. The bears paws are embroidered with the festival logo (right) and name of the participant and date of the event (left). Each participant could choose the color of the eyes and the yarn for the stitching of the nose, mouth and paws. The eyes were put in by the participants as was the stitching done by themselves. 	The Ladybird on wheels, has been produced in an edition of 500 pieces at the Steiff Summer Festival 2006 in Giengen Germany. It is made according to an example out of the year 1926. She is 14 cm in size and comes with certificate of authenticity but does not have a box. EAN 672439

	The Baden-Wuerttemberg Ole teddy, is 28 cm in size, made from beige plush and is not limited (yellow tag). He wears a black/yellow ribbon around his neck that has "Ihre erste Liebe war ein Baden-Württemberger" (Your first love was a Baden-Württemberger) printed on it. He has a special chest tag with the coat of arms of the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. He does not come in a box and does not have a certificate of authenticity. EAN 111327

	The Lion SüdBest is 24 cm in size, his nose is stitched in the form of a heart, he is made from mohair and limited to 2006 pieces. He was issued by the German state Baden-Württemberg Energy Company called "EnBW" to support the campaign "Baden-Württemberg punktet". SüdBest is an advantage card with which the users can collect points at over 3000 participating partners. The concept is simple: For each collected point a cent is credited. Customers of the EnBW can redeem their points for an electricity bill credit or against purchase coupons exchanges. 	The Werder Bremen soccer Teddy bear is 12 cm in size, made from cream mohair and is limited to 1500 pieces. He comes dressed in the gear of the German soccer club Werder Bremen. This bear does not come in a box and does not have a certificate of authenticity. He was only available from the Werder Bremen fan shop. EAN 992209

	Bruno the brown bear, is 20 cm in size, made out of brown mohair, and is limited to 1500 pieces. This is not a new design but the same as a bear from the Steiff classic line. He comes with a special chest tag, box and certificate of authenticity. From the sale of each bear has 5 Euro been donated to the German Wildlife Organization in Hamburg. Bruno came in the news as he was the first brown bear (Ursus arctos) which was sighted in the southern part of Germany in 170 years. He was seen as a danger to the population so it was decided to shoot the young brown bear. After he was killed there was an uproar in the media and from all kinds of wildlife organizations like WWF, that this had been an unnecessary act. EAN 992278

	The Bose bear 2006 is 35 cm in size and made out of gray mohair. He is limited to 7000 pieces and comes in a wooden box with certificate of authenticity. This bear was not available in any store and one could only obtain him with the purchase of a Bose product. 	This Steiff - Tipp Kick set consists out of a Steiff Teddy bear keyring, a Tipp Kick figurine with ball and a soccer goal. The Steiff keyring is 12 cm in size, made out of plush and wears a green shirt with the Tipp Kick logo on it. The Tipp Kick figurine is dressed in a yellow Steiff shirt and green shorts. The soccer goal is made out of acryl. This is a game and one is supposed to shoot the ball in one of the two holes of the soccer goal. The bear is issued to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the German company Dethleffs Caravans and Motor caravans. Each of the children, under 14 years, from customers who bought a family caravan in the anniversary year of Dethleffs Caravans and Motor caravans got a free Teddy bear. 	Dex the Hovawart, is 30 cm in size, made out of mohair and limited to 1500 pieces. Dex, the dog of Reinhold Eysel, died on 22nd January 2003 of an insidious, largely un-researched and unknown disease called degenerative myelopathy. To improve the treatment of the disease and prevent its spread in the future there must be a greater knowledge of this disease, i.e. more research must be done. Parts of the proceeds of the sale of Dex have been donated to help fund targeted research into degenerative myelopathy. He comes with a small certificate of authenticity. EAN 993053

	The Kastelruther Spatz Sparrow is 25 cm in size, made from plush and is limited to 2000 pieces. This is the mascot of a famous folk group called Kastelruther Spatzen from South Tyrol (Italy). 	The Brush-Dax 1909 is not only useful but very lovable, too! The practical Brush-Dax with real horsehair bristles is made of fine velvet and has very dark glass eyes with a trusty look. As in the original, his comical tail can still be twisted today! A little historic information: Richard Steiff, Margarete Steiff’s nephew, was an innovative designer through and through. In his capacity as the creative mind behind Margarete Steiff GmbH, he was always working on new ideas and his ability to set new standards was not restricted to inventing the Teddy Bear, but also to the development of what was referred to as “functional articles." Not all of his designs made the final transition from the drawing board to the catalogue; some articles were only produced in special series and others only exist as samples in the Steiff archives. 	Mohair polar bear on wheels 1910, is 43 cm in size, made out of white mohair, stuffed with wood shavings, and is limited to 1000 pieces. Franz Steiff invented a magical head mechanism which gave his animals life-like movement. The polar bear has his head jointed to the trunk by a tube (neck) which is fastened to a revolving joint. Turning the bear's head will trigger his deep growler voice. He is equipped with glass eyes and metal rods and sits on six-spoke wheels. 	Molly dog 1927 is made of red and white tipped mohair, is 10 cm in size, limited to 1500 pieces and comes in a box with certificate of authenticity. He has two toned glass eyes and is wearing a gold-colored bell hanging from a blue taffeta ribbon. A little historic information: The saying “Man’s best friend is his dog” was certainly true for the toy industry throughout the 1920`s. During the so-called “dog years," all kinds and versions of toy dogs became best sellers. The plush Molly dog became the greatest success in the history of Steiff animals after the famous Teddy Bear. Molly was made from 1925 until the 1950`s in both natural and vibrant colors and in a wide variety of styles – seated, standing, as a pincushion or a bag, with a press-and-listen voice but also as a puppet, hanging toy or Molliette Charleston. 	Roloplan 150,2 1909, is a high-quality replica modeled in every detail on the original dating from 1909. Richard Steiff designed the tailless folding fabric kite, which he called "Roloplan". This unusual item proved a great success and more than 34.000 Roloplans were sold between 1910 and 1915. They were made in different sizes, with the smallest measuring 80 cm and the largest 360 cm. This kite won prizes for height, distance, carrying capacity, stability and signaling at flying competitions. It won as well awards for aerial photography. Richard Steiff was the first person to succeed in using a kite to take photographs from a great height. One of the first pictures taken was, of course, the Steiff factory. 	Mohair elephant 1909, red, is 17 cm in size, stuffed with wood shavings, has glass eyes and is limited to 1909 pieces. A little elephant pictured in "Modenwelt" fashion magazine in December 1897 inspired Margarete Steiff to make her very first toy. In 1808 she created a little elephant "Elefäntle" out of felt and gave it to Anna Steiff, her sister-in-law. Ever since, the elephant has been the symbol accompanying the 125-year history of Margarete Steiff GmbH. A very special one was developed in 1909 which had a unusual design and colors, e.g. red and blue. It was made out of felt until 1917 and of mohair until 1927. 	In 1908 Otto Steiff and the Steiff representative in England, Herbert Hughes, ordered for presentation in London a set of six brightly colored bears. Four of these Teddy bears in the colors green, yellow, pink and black crossed the Channel as samples and have never been seen since. He had large ears and a pointed muzzle that gave him a childlike look. 	The Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Teddy bear is 15 cm tall and has been made of the finest honey-colored mohair. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart! A name that is well-known all over the world! Legends, rumors and speculations have developed around the eventful life and sudden death of Wolfgang Amadeus. Born on 27th January 1756 in Salzburg, Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart was a true child prodigy, who could play the piano at the tender age of three, started composing small pieces at the age of four and made his first public appearance before he was six years old. During his short life (27.01.1756 - 05.12.1791), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed around fifty symphonies, twenty-three piano concertos, five violin concertos, a plethora of other pieces, as well as a series of great operas. A truly elegant piano virtuoso, Mozart is dressed in the style of the Rococo period and is wearing a wig, a red silk frock coat with lace-trimmed cuffs and black velvet breeches. 	Regatta yachtsman Teddy bear, is 15 cm in size, made of white alpaca and limited to 1500 pieces. The bear wears a life jacket. He comes with a nice boat, 49 cm long, which is made of spruce wood and on which "Steiff" is printed. The sail is made of natural cotton and has adjustable sailor's knots to tauten the sails. 	The Relais & Chateaux Teddy bear, is 40 cm in size and made out of blond soft plush. On his right paw is the Relais & Chateaux emblem embroidered. It was foreseen that this bear would be issued together with the Relais & Chateaux 2006 guide which presents the Association’s 453 hotels and restaurants in over 50 countries. 	Honey shop with two Teddy bears, is 24 (height) x 38 (width) x 13 (depth) cm and limited to 5000 pieces. The shopkeepers are Bernhard, who is responsible to serve the customers, is 10 cm in size and made out of a brown tipped-mohair and Oskar, who is responsible for re-stocking the shelves, is 10 cm in size and made out a white mohair. The shop is made out of solid wood and can be closed with a glass window so it is protected against dust but still can be viewed. It is possible to put it on a desk or hang it on the wall. The shop itself is decorated with over 80 items made out of German porcelain, wood and brass. The porcelain items are decorated itself with pictures of famous Steiff Teddy bears. 	The Japan Soccer Teddy bear is 22 cm in size, made out of caramel mohair and limited to 1500 pieces. He is dressed in a typical soccer outfit, with white pants and blue shirt. 	The story of Margarete Steiff is filled with fairytale quality. Young Margarete contracted polio when she was just 18 months old which meant that she would spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair. However, this spirited and courageous young lady took her life into her own hands not allowing a disability to divert her. Crippled by polio but nevertheless a confirmed optimist, Margarete learnt sewing and tailoring and soon became a very skilled seamstress. She purchased her very own, and indeed the very first sewing machine to appear in Giengen.
