Steiff Club
	The Event bear 2016 Mady, only available at special Steiff trunk shows and club events, is 5-way jointed, is made out of golden brown colored mohair and is a 21 cm in size. Her coat is a very special ratinee mohair which is sparsely woven and tightly curled. Hand stitched facial details give her a warm, inviting expression. Her sweet face is framed by a handmade bow. She proudly sports a chest tag identifying her as the “Event Teddy bear 2016”. The bear does not come in a box but has a certificate of authenticity. The bear will only be available in 2016 and the edition size was 1360. EAN 421365

	Steiff Club membership gift 2016 Teddy bear, is 10 cm in size and comes in a collectors box with certificate of authenticity. This tiny, handmade Teddy is sewn from a blond tipped mohair – just like Maple, but with a shorter pile. She features brass coloured felt paw pads and a black hand-stitched nose. However, there is one slightly different detail this year like last year: the bear has a satin ribbon, and so can also be used as an ornament. The bear will only be available in 2016 and the edition size has not been announced by Steiff yet. EAN 421372

	The Maple Teddy bear, is 27 cm in size, is 5-way jointed and is made from yellow tipped colored mohair. Is there any season more poetic than autumn? The changing colors of the leaves have inspired artists, writers, and musicians for centuries. This was also the designer’s inspiration for the 2016 Club bear called Maple – the third in the series of tree-themed bears. Previous editions included Chestnut and Cherry. It’s a crisp autumn day, and Maple has gone for a stroll. Beautiful leaves are gently falling all around her. But which one should she choose for her collection? At last she finds the perfect specimen – the one she’ll keep forever. Maple is sewn from a unique blond mohair that has been lightly tipped for extra depth and added dimension. Her paw pads are brass colored wool felt. Her nose and mouth are hand-stitched. Around her neck, Maple wears a woollen collar with a checked pattern, finished with a green satin bow. A highly detailed maple leaf is attached to her right paw. The leaf has been lovingly airbrushed and its veins are intricately stitched on both sides for added realism. 	Paul Teddy bear, is 50 cm in size, 5-way jointed, has a growler, with wooden eyes, is stuffed with wood shavings, made from light brown colored mohair and is limited to only 140 pieces. What might have happened if Margarete Steiff had not had her brother and nephews around her? The world of play would be a much poorer place. As a family of many talents, they created friends for life, a very special standard of quality and an international brand. Joining the bears Franz and Fritz this year is Paul, to mark the 140th birthday of Paul Steiff. Paul Steiff was the eldest of Margarete's nephews, and was an extremely creative individual who started out making organs. He loved working with wood, and often finished his works by carving his initials in them. Later on he studied art and designed many Steiff animals. From 1902 he looked after the American market. Once back in Giengen Germany, he assumed responsibility for production quality. He also worked for a long time on giving the bears a voice. Finally, in 1908, came success – if you tilted Paul's bear, it would start to growl ... Paul Steiff had invented the "tilt me" voice Paul Teddy bear as a Margarete Steiff Edition bear has lots of very special features. Paul's gently rounded nose is made of ebony. Johannes Ableitner, a great-great-grandnephew of Margarete Steiff and owner of the "Möbel & Natur" workshop, makes them in Herbrechtingen near Giengen. He uses a fine-cutting band saw and a router on the very hard ebony. At the end, every single nose is carefully finished by hand with sandpaper until it is absolutely perfect. Once the shape is just right, he applies a thin layer of bees' wax and polishes it. Sitting beside the Paul Teddy is a beech-wood box that has been carved both on the lid and at the front under the grip recess. It is complemented by the matching paddle, which is used to shape excelsior-stuffed items and has typical signs of use. Both items could have come straight from Paul's workshop. But in fact they are hand crafted by the Rülke company of the Ore Mountains region in Germany. This company specialises in making furniture for dolls, and artistic woodworking remains an important part of its philosophy to this day. Paul the Teddy bear will surprise those who think you can only hear a growl. He actually has two growling voices. One of them makes him give a deep, resonant growl when he is tilted; the other shows the growler's internal workings. "Holz & Töne" of Giengen has developed a special "tilt-me" voice for this bear that has never been seen before. Made of acrylic, and therefore transparent, it has a piece of wood at the top and the bottom with a bear's head. It is the first "tilt-me" voice that you can see growling. A sketch book accompanies the bear and contains reprints of sketches made by Paul Steiff. These are a unique part of Steiff history within themselves. In addition, a booklet will be supplied with the bear that includes information about his features, development, and production. Steiff Festival Specials
	The Steiff Workshop Teddy bear 2016 has been produced in an edition of 180 pieces at one of the workshops organized by Steiff. The unusual aspect of this bear is that there is no bear in this edition of 180 pieces which looks alike. Each bear was produced by one of the participants of the workshops organized by the Steiff Club during the year. The bears paws are embroidered with "Steiff Workshop" (right) and name of the participant and date of the workshop (left). Each participant could choose the color of the eyes and the yarn for the stitching of the nose, mouth and paws. The eyes were put in by the participants as was the stitching of the nose, mouth and paws. 	The Steiff Teddy bear set Steiff Summer Festival 2016, are limited to 500 pieces, are 5-way jointed, each bear is 16 cm in size and exclusively sold at the festival. While the material is classical and traditional, the design is very modern: the Steiff Summer Teddy bears are made of finest turquois and white colored mohair. 	The Steiff mini Teddy bear Steiff Summer Festival 2016, is limited to 136 pieces, 13 cm in size and was not available for sale. This bear was presented as a gift by Steiff to each of the exhibitors at the Steiff Summer festival. 	The Fritz-Horn unicorn, is 30 cm in size, not jointed, made from white/black colored plush and is not limited (yellow ear-tag). Fritz-Horn was born on a scrap of paper on a train in 2002 by lifelong friends Lorenz Hampl and Mirco Wolf Wiegert, the two set about developing a cola drink that was better than the leading brands. Since then, Fritz-Kola has taken the market by storm, boasting a distinctive range of flavours. With every Fritz-Kola containing 25mg of caffeine per 100g, it is anything but soft. They christened the drink "Fritz-Kola", because they thought it a "fine North German name", and had a brewery produce and fill the first production quantity. The black and white corporate logo for the bottles designed by Hampl and Wiegert themselves, using "simply their two heads" as a signet to avoid possible copyright problems. 	Dr. Pingi penguin, is 19 cm in size, not jointed, made from white/gray colored plush and is not limited (yellow ear-tag). Dr. Pingi, the official mascot of the donation campaign "The New Hauner" at the University Hospital of Munich, has made the jump from a child's drawing to a plush toy. The little penguin is an invention of the student Annalena Dietz, who won the mascot painting contest for the donation campaign with her design. In April 2015, she was selected by a jury under the auspices of the Bavarian Minister of State for Culture, Dr. Ludwig Spaenle. Annalena Dietz was able to push through more than 600 other designs. Dr. Pingi will certainly delight many small patients. From the sale proceeds of each stuffed animal 5 euros go to the foundation "the new Hauner". This will support the future research infrastructure at the new University Medical Center for Obstetrics, Pediatrics and Adolescents of the LMU-Klinikum, which will be established by 2022 on the campus Großhadern (Munich-Germany). For the well-being of children and adolescents, patient care and research on the causes of illness and therapy should be even more closely interlinked, so that even in the case of previously not or only partly treatable diseases, more young patients can be helped in the future. 	The Teddy bear 1922, is 35 cm in size, 5-way jointed, head is loosely attached to the body, has a growler, glass eyes, stuffed with wood shavings, made from caramel tipped colored mohair and is limited to 922 pieces. The original version of this 80 year old Teddy measures over 70 cm which was created at Steiff in the 1920’s and is now owned by an American collector. This characterful companion has been reinterpreted and is presented as Teddy bear replica 1922, but this time in a size of 35 cm. He features a shorn muzzle and wears a shiny, curly coat. Everything has been made as in the past: head loosely fixed to his body, a sincere expression, glass eyes, a growler and excelsior stuffing. He comes in a box with certificate of authenticity. 	The Teddy clown 1926, is 25 cm in size, 5-way jointed, has a squeaker, glass eyes, stuffed with wood shavings, made from delicate tipped colored mohair and is limited to 926 pieces. Between 1926 and 1928, 30,000 Teddy Clowns left the Steiff workshop, all of them with black pompons and ruffs of blue, red, orange or purple. A good 90 years later a Teddy clown with black pompons and a black ruff pops up in Southern Germany! The back of his glass eyes are painted dark brown. 	Teddy petsy 1928, is 35 cm in size, 5-way jointed, has a growler, glass eyes, stuffed with wood shavings, is made from brown tipped colored mohair and is limited to 928 pieces. In 1927 Richard Steiff was inspired by the American zeitgeist of the Twenties to produce a bear with a new expression and striking blue eyes. A short time later, on January 7, 1928 Steiff presents the Bear Baby "Buschy". Steiff fans liked everything about him, just not his name. As “Petsy” he was a great sales success. Up until 1930 a total of 10,688 were sold. The look harks back to this famous bear cub. Petsy comes in a box with certificate of authenticity. EAN 403286

	Teddy baby 1929, is 25 cm in size, 5-way jointed, has a squeeker, glass eyes, stuffed with wood shavings, is made from corn colored alpaca and is limited to 929 pieces. Richard Steiff wanted to have a bear with “the most vivacious smiling expression.” A year later, in 1929, this bear type was registered for a patent: cute, with a new design and characteristic head shape, in four variations and with the annotation ”Teddy-Baby D R P.a” (“German Empire Patent Pending"). However, Teddy baby was not patented – and therefore received the “Teddy baby trademark” in October 1930. He was still a great success. It has the tag “Teddy-Baby D.R.P.a.". 	This Medal Teddy bear, is 32 cm in size, 5-way jointed, made from blond colored mohair and is limited to 1000 pieces. Every Steiff bear tells a story. And what story is as compelling as that of Margarete Steiff, the founder of the Steiff company? The series of special Teddy bears, accompanied by commemorative medals, is offered to honour her memory and legacy. These limited editions will appeal to both arctophiles and numismatists – collectors of Teddy bears and precious coins respectively. The series began in 2014 with the introduction of the Teddy bear with a copper-nickel medal (production limited to three years) and with a bronze medal (limited edition of 1,000 pieces), both sewn from the finest alpaca plush. They were followed in 2015 by the Teddy bear with a silver medal (limited edition of 1,000 pieces) and are now joined by the Teddy bear with a gold medal (limited edition of 1,000 pieces) in 2016. As for the Asterix comic book series with 36 different adventures, it has been the sensation of the publishing world for over 55 years while the character Asterix has become a mythical figure.
